Community Based Instruction

Community Based Instruction is a strand that focuses on going out and experiencing the community. We run a recycling program for the school that teaches students the value of recycling and keeping the school grounds beautiful. Students also take trips out to a local art center to work on art pieces and take lessons. In addition we also take trips to explore local museums such as The Getty, The Getty Villa, The Skirball Cultural Center, The Petterson Auto Museum, UCLA, and The Santa Monica Aquarium  . The Community Based Instruction strand also runs a cardmaking program with delivery stations at 4 different sites across the valley.

  • The CBI strand partners with the Lion's Den in creating art.
  • Students participate in Zoom art sessions
  • Students sell handmade cards at Taft HS, El Camino HS, Cleveland HS and Winnetka Bowling Alley
  • Students promote and fund raise yearly for Red Nose Day

Take a minute to check out some of our hand made cards and strand activities.
